Author visits are typically out of the question for most public schools due to budget constraints and limited author availability. Let's face it - author visits can be expensive! Falcor Books is working to make visits more available by offering Virginia schools the chance to bring author K. S. Robeson to schools for a very reasonable cost. We believe that by meeting real authors and learning about writing books, students will become more engaged in the reading and writing process. Virginia schools ordering 10 or more books and/or CDs from the Tales from Wind Creek series may request a visit from the author to their school for an additional $100 honorarium. This would bring K. S. Robeson to your school for one day to provide 2 presentations to classes familiar with at least one book in the series. Presentations (on PowerPoint) are available for both Grade 4 and Grade 5 and last approximately 45 minutes. Participating schools are welcome to preview the presentations and make suggestions regarding specific content that may be most appropriate for their students. Author availability is limited since K. S. Robeson continues to teach part-time at Old Dominion University, so interested schools are encouraged to contact Falcor Books as soon as possible in the school year. Falcor Books will respond to interested schools to make arrangements for the visit (setting date, gathering directions, having the author speak in advance to the Media Specialist, etc.).
